Manhattan Science Cafe
Dr. Samantha Wisely from the Division of Biology will be leading our next Manhattan Science Cafe on Tuesday, February 8th. The discussion topic will be “Zombie skunks, killer cats and ninja bats: Why rabies is still a threat in the Midwest.” As usual the talk will be at 7 PM at Radina’s in Aggieville.
The topic description is —
Rabies is a deadly zoonotic disease. It turns wildlife and pets into aggressive and dangerous animals. The virus moves to the brain and creates changes that make the victim unsusceptible to pain, hyper-aggressive, and creates a desire in the victim to bite any- thing alive. We spend millions of dollars a year in the US to prevent this disease, but we still can’t get rid of it. Why?
