Here’s info about a number of workshops from the Dolan DNA Learning center at Cold Springs Harbor.  These workshops are great resources and note that two of them will be presented at the Stowers in KC.

The Dolan DNA Learning Center (DNALC) is a pioneer in modern biology
education. Since it’s founding in 1988, more than 8,000 teaching faculty have
received intensive training at DNALC-sponsored workshops conducted in 42
states and several foreign countries. For 2008, we are offering a series of
exciting opportunities covering cancer, neuroscience, RNA interference,
molecular biology, bioinformatics and genomics. For applications and

Amgen Leadership Symposium In Human and Genomic Biology

July 14-August 1, 2008 – Cold Spring Harbor, NY

This 3-week workshop offers advanced training for high school teachers who
want to extend their leadership in biotechnology and genetics education.
Instruction takes place at the DNALC, and participants are housed on the
nearby campus of Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory on Long Island. Participants
spend their days engaged in exciting laboratories, seminars, bioinformatics,
and creative projects. In the evenings, they can mingle with research staff,
Nobel laureates, and visiting scientists from around the world who are
creating the gene age.

Note: Room, board, and a stipend are included.

Genes to Cognition (G2C) Online

These 1.5-day workshops introduce a unique Internet site incorporating
up-to-date neuroscience research, multimedia items, and interactive
experiments. From molecular signals to neural circuits to anatomical
structures of the brain, participants explore thinking and disorders of
thinking at different levels of complexity. The site offers unique learning
aids that allow students to track their paths through the site and to build
concept maps using information they have encountered.

Inside Cancer

This 1-day workshop introduces an innovative Internet site on cancer biology.
Participants explore how to use authoritative content on cancer cell genetics
in health, general biology, and AP Biology classes and use the Teacher center
to build and share lesson plans with a focus on syllabus-centered instruction.
Teacher Center includes a database search tool for building multimedia
presentations, a wiki-based lesson editor, and a matrix that aligns Inside
Cancer content to educational standards.
